Hi - I am looking for a snedker to fix doors in our flat. We have the following problems (pictures attached). I dont have the solutions, so I need an experienced snedker to discuss what can be done.
We do NOT want to replace the doors! We like the current doors so preferably there can be solutions without replacing the whole door to all 4 problems???
1) There is a French door (double-door) between 2 rooms that is not closing. The locking mechanism seems broken, i.e. whenever I close the door and just slightly pull at it, it jumps out again. You can see in the pictures that the previous owner of the flat seem to have tried to "pull out" the mechanism, so it sticks in place when you close the door, but this doesn't work. Picture 1 shows the door, picture 2 should show how the right side locking mechanism is pulled out (bent outwards) probably from previous attempts to make the door closing and picture 3 shows how the lock opened when I pulled the door slightly (without pushing down the handle)
2) Most of the doors in our flat are not soundproof, i.e. there is quite a big gap on the sides or top/bottom. So even with closed doors one can hear EVERYTHING in the flat. It would be nice if they can be made a bit more soundproof? Maybe there is something that can be used to fill those gaps between door and doorframe??
There are 2 single doors and the french double door (point 1) with this problem.
See pictures 4,5,6,7 that should explain the issue. I have taken pictures in the dark for all 3 doors where you can see based on the light how big the gaps are (letting light and sound through)
3) When closing the 2 single doors and french door, they make very squeaky and creaking noises. I think the haengsel might need some oil and I think some of the doors have the haengsel too close to the frame so the wood creaks on each other. It would be nice if the 3 doors could be adjusted in the frame so they don't creak that much/are so loud when you close them
4) The handle of the bathroom door is almost falling off, i guess the screws are too loose..either it has to be reinstalled with new screws or the whole handles replaced?? See picture 8.
Please pm me with offers/ideas and we can arrange a consultation so you can see the issues in person.
